Exfoliative skin peels have long been considered a standard in surgeon’s offices. Peels are versatile, ranging in depth to correspond with the severity of the condition. Even with the arrival of lasers, some still prefer the peel to treat superficial skin problems. Alpha/beta hydroxy acid, glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid and phenol peels are some of the more common types of peels available. Peels range in depth from very light or superficial to medium and deep peels. Generally speaking, the deeper the peel the more noticeable the results and the more commitment required for recovery. Since every patient has unique skin problems, goals and lifestyles, one type of peel does not fit everyone. Dr. Schmid customizes each peel to you.
